Primary Teacher • SEN Specialist • Parent • Advocate for Calm, Connected Children

Hello, I’m Tracey — a primary teacher and SEN specialist who believes every child deserves to feel calm, safe, and truly understood. This belief has shaped everything I do, both as a professional and as a parent.

Why I Created The Centred Child

For years in my teaching career, I saw children doing their very best in environments that often moved too fast for their nervous systems. I noticed the overwhelm, the masking, the after‑school meltdowns — and I worked hard to create calmer, safer spaces within my classroom where children could breathe, regulate and simply be themselves.

But I kept wondering: What if there was a way to build an entire space around that gentleness? A space where children didn’t have to perform. A space where their sensory needs, emotions, quirks and strengths were welcomed, not managed.

That question became the seed of The Centred Child — a place designed intentionally for regulation, connection and emotional safety.

A Different Kind of Support
Instead of busy classrooms, I use nature, animals, sensory play and mindfulness to help children feel grounded again. Your child can explore, move, breathe and simply be — without pressure or expectation.

This isn’t traditional tutoring or formal therapy. It’s a calm, nurturing space where learning and emotional regulation happen side by side. A space where your child can rebuild confidence, feel safe in their body, and reconnect with their natural curiosity.

I Understand This as a Parent Too
I know what it feels like to want your child to be truly seen — not just managed. I know the worry, the overwhelm, the “I hope someone understands my child the way I do.” That’s why every session is personalised. Every child arrives with their own story, and I meet them exactly where they are.

What Sessions Look Like
Each session is shaped around your child’s needs, using:
• Nature‑based play
• Sensory exploration
• Mindfulness and grounding
• Animal connection
• Gentle emotional support

My goal is simple:

To create a space where your child feels safe, understood and free to grow, learn and develop at a pace that feels right for them.

A Nature-Led Approach to Healing

The Centred Child philosophy is built on the understanding that nature provides the most gentle and effective environment for emotional regulation. In our calming garden space, children find safety among the chickens and guinea pigs, allowing them to reconnect with their curiosity at their own pace. This therapeutic, hands-on approach reduces anxiety and creates a grounding foundation where children can build resilience and rediscover the joy of learning without pressure.
